A. Mollie- "Before"

A. Mollie- "Before"

No one could catch this dog that had been dumped on country roads near Fillemore, NY. She was terrified and had clearly been abused. This is the photo of what her reaction to being looked at was. I got involved after the dog warden was unsuccessful for three weeks. It took me two days, and we caught her. But she got increasingly aggressive in the shelter and was to be euthanized, so i too her home. It took five days to be able to touch her, and then every day was another step, until we had one heck of a fine dog, that was a fantastic tennis ball retriever! What a good dog! Mollie was placed in the home with a dear friend and is the perfect house dog now!

C.Jadin

C.Jadin

Jadin was shot by his owners husband. The husband shot their other dog, then turned the gun on Jadin. The first bullet ripped through the top of Jadins skull, narrowly missing his brain. The second bullet tore out Jadins voice box and esophagus. Jadin ran for his life as the third bullet was fired. Jadin hid in the woods for days before crawling home, where the wife rushed him to the vet. The vet had to work very hard to save Jadins life, but he did. I offered to take Jadin and place him in a safer home. It turns out, Jadin is going to stay right here!

Jackie

Jackie

Jackie spent his life chained inside a dark garage in the city of Buffalo. he was covered with tumors and his owners had dies. We needed to give him a better life! I took Jackie in and he lived for 3 wonderful years in sunshine and playing with other dogs. he was easily trained to an invisible collar, so he was never chained again.

Heidi

Heidi

Heidi was rescued from a bad home. Heidi is a wonderful dog that has a severe problem with her hind legs that was made worse by being overweight. Heidi was placed in a loving home with people who understand and love Great Pyrenees dogs.

Lucy

Lucy

Lucy was rescued from a shelter in Ohio. Having never met her, I was uncertain of her health status, temperament and age. But the stars shone on us the day Lucy arrived, young, sweet and healthy! Lucy's unusually long tongue made her especially cute too. We learned the hard way that Lucy loves to jump fences and run free .
Lucy was placed in a wonderful home where she is loved and appeciated.

Samantha

Samantha

Samantha was dumped from a car in West Valley, NY. She was hit by the next car that came along and as she lay near a fence, the dog warden came to shoot her. The onlookers didn't accept this response from the dog warden, so they said they would take the dog to the local vet. She had a lot of bruising, and her abdomen was mysteriously large... an x-ray revealed numerous puppies- ah! So this is why the poor dog was dumped! People would rather do this than spay their dog?? One week later, Samantha had 6 beautiful puppies in my home. All puppies were placed loving homes and spayed and neutered. Samantha was spayed and placed in a wonderful home with lots of love and will live happily ever after.

Higgins

Higgins

This beautiful Sheltie originally came from a puppy mill. He was tossed out of the second home and handed to me. I noticed that he was dangerously and morbidly obese. I took him to the vet and had his thyroid function tested. The thyroid function was low, so the vet prescribed some medicine to take daily for that. The sheltie was losing weight with all of the excercise he was getting with me. Shortly after that the sheltie was placed with a man from Bliss, NY who promised that he would properly care for the dog, be sure it was excercised daily and he promised that the he would make sure the dog lost the weight he needed to lose. He also told me he was going to get involved in obedience and agility work. Unfortunately, the man had told me all lies. Filled with doggie treats, and getting no excercise, Higgins gained 5 more pounds within weeks! The man was also an extremely heavy smoker. The dog has continued to gain weight, even on the thyroid medicine. I begged the man to do what he had promised and get Higgins to a healthy weight, but he has refused and instead put this dog at an extreme health risk. It is the absolute worst placement I have ever made with a dog and I regret it every day. Unfortunately, this placement will lead to a life of torture for this sweet little dog and he will surely die from heart failure. The lesson is: Don't ever place a dog without a contract agreement!!!!!! Also, if you are feeling doubtful of a person, listen to your instincts. Surely my mistake is going to cost this poor dog its life. What a horrible little man that is torturing this dog and calling it "love".

Mikey

Mikey

This is Mikey tied out at the home where he had also jumped out a second story window when left alone. The dog suffered from severe separation anxiety. After this photo was taken, I took Mikey home, got him professionally groomed and started working with him.

Tico

Tico

Tico was given to me by a young lady who rented an apartment and couldn't afford a dog . She said her boyfriend "only hit him once in a while". Naturally, i took the dog. he was placed in a wonderful, loving home with responsible people who could afford to have a dog. Fortunately, this adorable little dog will never be hit again.
